Register of Practitioners and Mailing List

ASET keeps a National Register of Placement and Employability Practitioners for all staff in the UK, as well as others at institutions in Ireland, Holland, Hungary, Qatar and other European and North American countries. This Register now totals over 1300 individuals. We update it every 12-18 months by writing to registrars and individual placement staff asking for additions and amendments to the information we already hold.

We use the details to maintain a mailing list for sending email bulletins to practitioners, informing them of news and events relating to ASET and the sector in general. Bulletins are produced approximately every two months. The Register is kept in compliance of data protection laws so we do not use the information for any other purposes or pass it on to third parties.  All circular emails are always blind copied.

The Register is voluntary and the mailings service is completely free and available to anyone with an interest in the field. We can make amendments, add new staff and remove old ones at any time upon email requests sent to aset@asetonline.org

JISCmail

ASET promotes a JISCmail list - a free forum which is intended to create a community of placement practitioners and an arena for staff to share new ideas, good practice, problems and experiences. The address of this list is placements@jiscmail.ac.uk and full details and a users’ guide can be found here.

This differs from the direct ASET mailing list as it is an open forum for the sector, rather than a place just for ASET announcements, so we welcome anything any individuals or organisations deem relevant and appropriate to input.

Through this and the messageboard, we hope to create a national forum for announcing and receiving feedback on new and innovative placement/employability projects, on top of being a service where people new to the sector can seek guidance from more experienced practitioners.
