ASET President

Are you interested in working to help promote the work of ASET across UK Higher Education, and to advocate internationally?

We are seeking an individual with experience of promoting and supporting work based and placement learning and education, whose personal values align with those of ASET. Experience of the Higher Education sector will be essential, along with a sound awareness of current regulations and influences on the sector and their relation to work based and placement learning and education. An experienced networker with the capability to champion the work of ASET and its members.

Experience:

  • Demonstrable contribution to work based and placement learning and education within an institution or across the sector
  • Experience of holding or having held a senior leadership position within Higher Education
  • Experience of networking and building relationships across Higher Education and external stakeholders

Role Expectations:

  • To take on a figurehead role as an ambassador, champion, and advocate of the work of ASET
  • To promote the work of ASET across UK Higher Education and to advocate internationally, for example through engagement with WACE and other relevant global membership organisations
  • To raise the profile and the work of ASET with other sector bodies, organisations and policy makers within the UK and overseas
  • To contribute to press releases and articles relating to the work of ASET
  • To represent ASET members by providing strategic leadership

Commitment expectations:

  • To attend and provide an annual address at the ASET Conference
  • To attend the ASET Leadership Exchange Programme
  • To co-chair the annual ASET Strategic Planning Away Day
  • To attend board meetings as an invited guest
  • To partake in ASET business as required by the Chair

Important information:

  • The President is neither a member of the board nor a trustee
  • The President will have no voting powers
  • The term of the President will be limited to three years with an option to extend to five years on a rolling annual basis as agreed by the board of trustees
  • No remuneration is attached to this role, however travel expenses will be covered
