Working Groups

ASET Working Groups deliver the aims, mission, vision, and values of the organisation. These task-orientated groups include ASET staff, Trustees, and other volunteers from our member institutions. Most of their work is completed remotely, and meetings usually take place online. Each Working Group focusses on a specific area of development and has tangible outputs.

Joining an ASET Working Group is a great way to get involved with ASET, network with like-minded individuals and raise your professional profile. We are always keen to hear from members who would like to join our Working Groups: you don’t need to be an expert but do need to be committed, enthusiastic and results driven!

Staff Development

This Working Group plan and coordinate ASET’s programme of training delivery. They keep up to date with trends in the field and review training feedback to anticipate topics for workshops, Good Practice Guides and Viewpoints. The group is always keen to hear from members with experience, or an interest in; training, CPD and staff development.

The Research Working Group support, develop and disseminate research within the field of work based and placement learning. This group oversee all ASET Bursaries, review and select research papers for the ASET annual conference, facilitate the Practice and Research network meetings and recommend and commission research on behalf of ASET. If you have a passion for research in WBPL please join us.

Membership and Communications

This Working Group focusses on engagement and building a strong sense of community with our members. They develop, plan and coordinate member-exclusive networking events, judge the ASET Student Competition and oversee communications to ASET’s membership and beyond, including social media, web, electronic and print copy.

If you are interested in joining any of these groups, why not get in touch with the ASET office by email and tell us:

  • What engagement you have had with ASET to date
  • What you would like to get from being involved with ASET
  • What you could bring to ASET in terms of skills and expertise

We are always keen to welcome new volunteers, and to offer you the development opportunity provided by getting involved, so please do have a think about what you might have to offer. If you are interested in getting involved with any of these working groups please contact the ASET Office on 0114 234 5197 or by email at [email protected].
