The majority of our members are UK Higher Education Providers (HEPs); however our diverse international membership base also includes Individuals, Further Education Institutions, companies and some overseas members. Our membership year runs from 1st January to 31st December, although new members will be accepted throughout the year, and will be invoiced a pro rata up to the next full membership year.
Our 2021 Membership Policy offers 5 different types of membership:
1. Corporate Membership
Those organisations often working within the field of employability and placements, or who employ students or graduates, but are not primarily educational organisations – £600.
For smaller organisations in this category (with a turnover of less than £25m, less than 250 employees, and/or gross assets of less than £12.5m), an SME rate of £300 will apply.
2. Institutional Membership
For United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland HEPs. Membership is at institutional level, where “institution” is defined in accordance with the HESA listing and denoted by the allocation of a separate Institute ID. Individual colleges, within a HESA recognised institution, may choose to hold membership in their own right. Your identification and affiliation will be determined by your email address e.g. [email protected] works at Plymouth University. ASET will determine the fee based on full-time equivalent (FTE) student numbers :
2020 Rates
FTE Students
0 – 2000 £110
2001 – 10,000 £295
10,001 – 25,000 £425
25,001 – 100,000 £525
FTE student numbers for UK institutions are taken from the published HESA data 2 academic years prior to the membership year e.g. Invoices for 2021 membership will be determined by 2018/19 HESA statistics. Republic of Ireland student statistics will be determined by the HEA (www.hea.ie).
3. Further Education Colleges Membership
Membership for Further Education Colleges (www.aoc.co.uk) is levied at the flat rate of £110.
4. Individual membership
Membership for self-employed sole traders working in the field of HE placements/employability – £50.
5. Overseas Membership
An individual membership fee of £50 will be levied for staff working in institutions overseas. If there are 4 or more individuals employed by the same institution the flat fee of £200 will be levied.
Should international delegates wish to attend the Annual Conference only, confirmation from the home country’s national association office will qualify international delegates to the ASET member’s rate.
ASET reserves the right to confer Honorary Membership at any of these classifications. ASET reserves the right to decline or cancel membership in accordance with the Articles of Association of ASET (1982) Ltd (June 2011).
These rates represent exceptional value, a single annual payment covers all relevant staff, in all departments, across your entire institution or organisation. By joining ASET, you are not only given the opportunity to work with like-minded professionals at our annual conference, networking events and training sessions, but our members also gain access to a wide range of resources and publications, helping keep your knowledge base current.
To Join Now please contact the ASET Office by email.
There is the additional benefit of reduced fees for conferences and staff development sessions for all staff in the member institution/company and this alone recoups the cost of joining for many of the member institutions or companies. If you are in any way involved in providing placements, can you afford not to have access to such a wealth of expertise, advice and assistance?
If you would like to find out who your membership contact is at your institution, or to connect with your institution colleagues in the ASET community, please contact the ASET Office by email or on 0114 234 5197
