Richard is the Placements Learning Manager at the University of Exeter, managing a large team to support both undergraduate and postgraduate placements. He leads on many institutional projects focused on work based placement learning.

During his time at the University of Exeter, Richard has led on projects to standardise processes, procedures and support across over 70 placement modules.  The innovations and improvements implemented have had a significant impact on outcomes; in 2022-23 over 1,200 of the university’s students secured a placement (an over 70% increase on the previous year). Drawing on his previous career in HR, Richard puts his team and other key stakeholders at the centre of strategic change to deliver improved efficiencies and continual innovation.

After serving a as a Co-opted Trustee, Richard was elected as a Trustee at the 2024 AGM.
