Join the ASET team as our new Professional Development and Engagement Manager (Closing date: 9am Monday 9th June 2025)

Following an internal promotion, we have an exciting opportunity for a Professional Development and Engagement Manager to join the team to take on a varied and exciting role. The role will be responsible for leading and developing the ASET Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and training offer from design through to delivery and evaluation. As ASET’s Professional Development and Engagement Manager you will lead on working with Trustees to design, develop, deliver and evaluate a CPD/Training programme relevant to the needs of our members. An effective communicator, you will have responsibility for promoting the work of ASET and engaging our membership. You will manage our regular member communications with a view to enhancing our engagement, building membership, and increasing our presence across the HE sector.

This role is home based with occasional UK travel to ASET events. This is an exciting opportunity in the employability and experiential learning space and requires the knowledge and motivation to help ASET grow for the benefit of its members.  We are looking for a strong communicator, both written and verbal, who feels confident networking with professionals at all levels. You will be self-motivated, good with technology and have a strong understanding and knowledge of work based and placement learning and be passionate about sharing this with others.

Essential

  • experience and/or knowledge of WBPL within the HE sector
  • experience of developing and delivering engaging and interactive training, presentations, lectures or workshops to groups of varying sizes, either in person or online
  • confident in the use of technology including WordPress
  • an excellent standard of interpersonal skills, including effective communication skills: verbal, written and presentation
  • self-motivated and versatile, able to adjust to the changing demands of an evolving organisation
  • can evidence an ability to work independently, managing competing demands in order to meet tight deadlines and deliver multiple and complex projects
  • enthusiastic and supportive team player, with the skills and ability to inspire and influence others
  • flexible to travel to events UK wide as required by the role including some overnight stays

Desirable

  • demonstrable experience of networking, preferably in HE, and of building and maintaining professional relationships
  • Line Management experience
  • knowledge of e-learning platforms

Salary

£33,000 – £36,000 pro-rata

Hours

22.5 hours per week (0.6 FTE)

Tuesday – Thursday, UK Office hours.

Location

Home or Sheffield office-based, with occasional UK travel.
