40 Years of Student Competitions
ASET has celebrated student voices through national competitions since 1985.
Thousands of students have shared insights and gained recognition for their work based and placement learning experiences. To date, we have awarded over £20,000 in prize money to 40 winners.

Share up to 3 photos that capture your experience (placement, internship or work experience) along with a short description for the chance to win £100.
Open to students, at ASET member institutions, who are undertaking a placement, internship or work experience in the academic year 2025/26.

ASET Student Competition
The annual ASET Student Competition opens for entries in September/October and is open to students who completed a placement, internship or work experience in the previous academic year.
Student Competition 2024/25 – now closed
If you have recently completed a placement, an internship or work experience, in the UK/Ireland or overseas, as an undergraduate or postgraduate, remotely or in person, we want to hear about it.
Reflect on your experience to inspire and motivate fellow students.
There are three categories, each with a prize of £100
Open to students and recent graduates who completed a placement, internship, or work experience during the academic year 2024/25. To be eligible, applicants must have been registered as a student at an ASET member institution and completing the experience during that academic year.
Student Competition 2025/26 – Open to students and recent graduates who completing a placement, internship, or work experience during the academic year 2025/26 will open for submissions in September 2026.
You can enter if:
1. You have undertaken a placement, internship or a period of work experience supported by your university/college.
2. Your university/college is an institutional member of ASET.
3. You have complied with all Terms and Conditions for entry (see entry form).
How to enter
a) Complete and submit the entry form for the competition you wish to enter.
b) Obtain permission and contact details of a supporting member of staff at your institution, advising them they may be contacted for further verification if your entry is shortlisted.
Terms and Conditions (for full T&Cs see entry form)
1. Entries that fail to meet all the competition criteria will be rejected.
2. Judges will make their decision in line with competition criteria. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence over the results will be entered into.
3. You must seek clearance from your placement employer before submitting to ASET.
4. ASET will use edited quotations and versions of the entries to encourage and promote the concept of work-related learning. The copyright of all entries submitted will be vested in ASET.
5. By entering you are agreeing for your anonymised data to be used by ASET for research into experiential/work based learning.
6. Winners’ names may be publicly announced on our website or social media unless anonymity is requested upon prize acceptance.
7. Winners will be notified via e-mail.
