Widening access, and the success of widening participation students, is a firmly established part of the agenda in the HE sector with clear expectations from Government(s). For placement practitioners, what can we do to adapt our offer to better enable access to, and successful completion of, placements by these students?
Supporting widening participation students to succeed requires a look at their shared characteristics, the potential barriers they navigate and ensuring that our offer helps mitigate those challenges by working both within our institutions and with employers.
In an interactive session, our course leaders will facilitate discussions on ways to identify and support distinct groups within the widening participation population, and the actions necessary to overcome potential challenges and barriers to participation in placements.
Delegates will have the opportunity to share practice, and to build their own toolkit of practical ideas and top tips to take away from the workshop.
