Specialist Groups

ASET Specialist Groups work to deliver the Vision, Mission and Values of the organisation. These task-orientated groups include ASET staff, Trustees, and ASET Associate volunteers from our member institutions. Most of their work is completed remotely, and meetings usually take place online. Each group focusses on a specific area of development and has tangible outputs.

Staff Development

This Specialist Group design and deliver an annual programme of ASET Insights highlighting research, case studies and good practice in work based and placement learning. They keep up to date with trends in the field and review training feedback to anticipate topics for workshops, Good Practice Guides and Viewpoints. The group is always keen to hear from members with experience, or an interest in; training, CPD and staff development.

Research

The Research Specialist Group aims to enhance the quality and effectiveness of experiential and work based placement learning through collaborative research, knowledge sharing, and the promotion of innovative practice. This group oversees all ASET Bursaries, review and select research papers for the ASET conference, facilitate the Practice and Research Network and recommend and commission research on behalf of ASET.

Membership and Communications

This Specialist Group focusses on engagement and building a strong sense of community with our members. They inform ASET’s membership offer and policies alongside developing planning and coordinating member-exclusive networking events. Members also judge the ASET Student Competition and oversee communications to ASET’s membership and beyond, including social media, web, electronic and print copy.
